The long-awaited Mortal Kombat 1 is finally out. Everyone is loving the newest installment, but the letter C has broken the game for some with one fan dropping a bombshell in hilariously revealing why Johnny Cage is not Johnny Kage.

Mortal Kombat is a near-perfect fighting game. The single-player campaign is incredible, and the characters have never looked better thanks to the amazing graphics and gorgeous face models. The only real blight so far is Nitara, but the heavily criticized Megan Fox has at least provided an excellent response to her ‘grumpy trolls’. But, away from Megan Fox, one fan is shocked to see the letter C in their MK1, meanwhile, another fan has shocked kombatants by revealing why Johnny Kage is not a thing.

Is that the letter C in MK1?

A Mortal Kombat 1 fan has posted their dismay at seeing the letter C in-game.

The goof posted to Reddit shows a screenshot of MK1 paused. Shockingly, next to Konfirm, there isn’t the word Kancel, but rather… Cancel.

As you’d expect, fans are naturally horrified. Mortal Kombat traditionally substitutes words starting with the letter C for K such as kombat instead of combat, konfirm rather than confirm, and kombatants instead of combatants.

It’s a series tradition that has made the franchise so indistinguishable and iconic. But, somehow, cancel slipped by Ed Boon and the rest of the development team at NetherRealm Studios.

The horror and dismay of fans can be seen in the comments. Many were demanding refunds for this unacceptable, game-breaking error, while others simply koulnd’t believe it.

Responding humorously and making jokes, everyone pointed out that some characters have the letter C instead of K. And nowhere this is more apparent than Johnny Kage.

Why Mortal Kombat 1’s Johnny Cage is not Johnny Kage

A Mortal Kombat 1 fan has dropped a bombshell by revealing why Johnny Cage is not Kage in the MK series.

One fan pointed out that the uproar over the letter C ironically comes from Johnny Cage fans. And, in response, another fan said that Johnny Kage would be inappropriate nowadays because Cassie Cage would start with the letter K, too.

And Cassandra Carlton Cage beginning with all Ks is wrong for obvious reasons that don’t need to be spelled out with three initials.

Many fans were shocked and found this hilarious, meanwhile, another pointed out that Kassy Kage is a thing and shouldn’t be searched without caution.

Away from jokes, one Mortal Kombat follower believes Johnny Kage would be a good last name. They claim that, if pronounced as Kah-gay, it’s Japanese for Shadow.

Of course, the whole thread is nothing more than good-humored jokes rather than anything serious. Mortal Kombat 1 is a marvelous experience, and it’s quite possibly the best installment yet.

It is now available in early access format on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox. It is also on Nintendo Switch where the graphics are, to be kind, not good.
