EA Sports FC 24 launched on 29 September via PlayStation and Xbox and players are getting well into their first career mode saves. Every year players look to pick up the best young players to sign as early as possible, knowing their overall will skyrocket. The irony this year is that, arguably, the best wonderkid being discussed right now, Lamine Yamal, isn’t even in the game. We look at why.
Who is Lamine Yamal?
First, let’s look into who Lamine Yamal is and why he is rated so highly right now.
The Spaniard has been with Barcelona since 2013 and has seen a meteoric rise through the famous La Masia, following in the footsteps of legends.
He made his debut for the Catalans against Real Betis earlier this year, becoming the youngest first-team player in the last century. At just 15 years, 9 months, and 16 days at the time, it is a truly remarkable achievement.
He has so far made nine appearances for Barca. His performances did earn him a call-up to represent the Spanish national team. In his first appearance, he made history, becoming the youngest goalscorer in the country’s history, beating teammate, Gavi’s record.
Since his form has been so impressive at such a young age, Barcelona has signed the youngster down to a new three-year deal with a $1 billion release clause.
Why isn’t Lamine Yamal in EA Sports FC 24?
It is as simple as he is too young right now.
The rule that EA Sports outlines is that a player must be 17 or older to feature in the game. Considering Yamal only turned 16 recently, he won’t be in FC until the 2025 edition.
This has happened before, funnily enough, it was El Classico rivals’ signing of Endrick, which resulted in similar issues.

This situation is different as he is yet to play for Real Madrid. If he had made the move to the Spanish capital earlier than expected, he wouldn’t have been allowed to feature in the FIFA title, at the time.
It is a sadness that, especially in career mode, players can’t use Yamal in the game, considering how good he has been in real life. It looks like it will be at least a year’s wait to make this wonderkid a FC star.
