So far in EA Sports FC 24, defending has been a constant complaint for players with everybody conceding goals consistently.
EA Sports FC 24 has only been out less than a week but users on PlayStation and Xbox players are already complaining. Their complaints are valid, however, as defending in the new game is extremely difficult. Many games are finishing with each team scoring four, five, or even six goals each, and it just isn’t realistic or fun. With all that being said here are five ways to improve your defending in FC 24.
1. Use Tactical Defending
The first tip is to change from the normal advanced defending and instead use tactical defending.

This will allow you to have more control over your defenders. Advanced Defending is more heavily assisted but the current AI doesn’t put players in the right positions. Changing it allows you to control the positioning of your defenders more freely.
This doesn’t completely solve the defensive issues, but it goes some way to helping you to keep more defensive solidity for sure.
2. Keep players in position
This may seem like a simple one, but in the heat of the moment, charging out with your center back is easily done. Although it is super satisfying to run forward and make a crunching slide tackle, if you miss it then you’re very open.
By reducing these kinds of errors, there will be more solidity in numbers, in your defense, which will reduce the number of shots your opponent gets off.
3. Slide tackle less
This is similar to the last point, but where you can don’t slide tackle at all. By slide tackling being your preferred defensive technique, you leave yourself exposed a lot of the time.
There are circumstances where a slide tackle can be useful, that is for sure. Utilizing stand tackles on a frequent basis will leave you with more defensive options. They don’t always work but they are also effective in slowing down attackers, so there are many benefits.
4. Jockey players
The previous two points have told you what to do if you need to make a tackle, but this point will reduce your need to make tackles as often.
By constantly pressing L2 or LT, your player will stay close to the opposition and allow you to pinch the ball when a chance comes. This one is simple and may take some getting used to, but if you can get the technique down it’s pretty effective.
5. Change defensive depth
This one is a tactical tweak you can change in your team management and it will make your team more defensively sound. All you have to do is change your defensive depth from the default, 50, to 71.

In simple terms, this brings your defensive line further back and means you are less likely to be caught out in behind. This may take some getting used to if you are used to playing more attacking
