Xbox has received a bonus update for September. While this update introduces four key changes, it also comes with a 90-day warning.
Microsoft loyalists have been spoiled this month. Not only are we all blessed with Starfield for free on Xbox Game Pass, but Microsoft has also given away Lies of P and Payday 3. As if these juggernauts weren’t enough, there are even more day-one releases joining Xbox Game Pass in October 2023. Microsoft has also released free updates on the console, and a bonus update has introduced quality-of-life improvements for capturing your gameplay footage.
Bonus Xbox update for September
Microsoft’s bonus update for Xbox has been released and is ready to install.
The most noticeable visual change is the addition of an Events channel on the dashboard home page. What this new channel does is show previews for upcoming in-game events for video games you have previously played.
In addition, the update also changes game captures. The biggest change is that captures are now only kept on the Xbox network for 90 days. If you don’t back up your captures on OneDrive or an external device such as a USB, your captures will be forever lost.
Thanks to the update, you can now move, manage, and bulk upload all of your captures at once. So you never lose any of your content, you can also automatically back up to OneDrive.
If you’re setting up an Xbox console for the very first time, you will be recommended video apps to download. These include platforms such as Disney+ as well as Peacock and Apple Music.
Lastly, for sports enthusiasts in the United States, there is a new sports hub that recommends games to download. This isn’t surprising seeing as September has been flooded with sports thanks to the releases of NBA 2K24 and EA Sports FC 24.
In other Xbox news, Phil Spencer has provided an exciting update on the mysterious Hideo Kojima exclusive that is rumored to be a horror game.
