Some of the free games joining Xbox Game Pass in October 2023 have already been confirmed. And Microsoft loyalists and subscribers can anticipate the arrival of more day-one releases from mega franchises.
It’s been a fantastic month for Xbox Game Pass members. September has given away not only Starfield, but also the spiritual successor to Bloodborne, Lies of P, and the chaotic multiplayer bank-robbing simulator, Payday 3. Starfield is easily one of the biggest games of the year as well as Xbox exclusive, but Microsoft is set to give away another massive free Xbox exclusive during the month of all things wicked and spooky.
New Xbox Game Pass October 2023 free games
Below are all the new free games confirmed for Xbox Game Pass October 2023:
- Gotham Knights – Oct 3rd
- The Lamplighters League – Oct 3rd
- Warhammer 40,000: Darktide – Oct 4th
- Forza Motorsport – Oct 10th
- Cities: Skylines 2 – Oct 24th
- Mineko’s Night Market – Oct 26th
- Headbangers: Rhythm Royale – Oct 31st
- Jusant – Oct 31st
This is all that has been confirmed so far. It’s possible even more could be added as Microsoft hasn’t officially announced the full lineup as of writing.
Before the month of Halloween arrives, Microsoft is set to scrap free eight games from the subscription service.

Day one Xbox Game Pass releases
The big day-one releases for Xbox Game Pass in October 2023 are Forza Motorsport and Cities Skylines 2.
Forza Motorsport is the next installment in the massive series exclusive to Xbox and PC. You can get early access from October 5th by purchasing the Premium edition.
Meanwhile, Cities Skylines 2 is a sequel to the huge fan-favorite building simulator. The original is one of the best-received sims games of all time, and Microsoft subscribers get the luxury of enjoying the sequel entirely for free.
Away from these two massive day-one releases, there’s also Warhammer 40,000 Darktide and Gotham Knights to anticipate at the beginning of the month. Although heavily scrutinized, Gotham Knights is a decent Batman adaptation where you play as the family instead of the bat himself.
If you haven’t already, you can subscribe to Xbox Game Pass for £7.99 per month on PC, and £8.99 per month on console. Consoles also have an Ultimate membership available for £12.99 a month.
