Starfield has faced lots of divisiveness online, but many fans appear to agree that the sex appeal of the Astral Lounge is pretty appalling. And these same fans are waiting for NSFW mods to come to the rescue.
Despite lots of scrutiny online, Starfield is one of the biggest Xbox exclusives ever. Some feel it’s better than Skyrim and Fallout, while others feel it’s outdated and stuck in the gaming past. This is primarily because it has unfortunately been on the receiving end of comparisons to a large slew of other amazing games such as No Man’s Sky, Cyberpunk 2077, and Baldur’s Gate 3. And, in regard to the latter two, fans are not amused with Bethesda’s apparent ‘dad bod’ sex appeal.
Starfield fans roast the sex appeal of Astral Lounge
Starfield fans are not impressed with the sex appeal of the game’s Astral Lounge.
As seen in the extensive gameplay deep dive before launch, when entering the Astral Lounge players are greeted by dancers in not very fetching alien outfits. And, as if the outfits weren’t bad enough, fans are completely roasting the animations.
One fan compared the dancing to just ‘dad bods bouncing’. Ouch. Another user dreamed up a scenario where we one day discover the dancers were motion-captured by a Bethesda employee who lost a bet.
Some fans pointed out that the lack of sex appeal is ’embarrassing’. In response, some pointed out that Bethesda has never overly sexualized anything, prompting some fans to respond that there’s a ‘middle ground between overly sexualized and whatever the hell this is’.
Lots of unflattering comparisons are made to Cyberpunk 2077, as well as Baldur’s Gate 3. All three games have romance options, but Starfield is the only one that doesn’t visually show any romance happening physically. And, forget Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur’s Gate 3, just compare Bethesda’s Astral Lounge to the dancers in Mass Effect 2’s Afterlife from all the way back in 2011.
Starfield NSFW mods will come to the rescue
Fans unimpressed with the dancers in the Astral Lounge are banking on it being one of the first fully modded areas when proper mod tools come out.
Official mod tools are coming in 2024, so it’ll be quite a wait before anything drastic happens. Until then, fans have to make do with ‘the most boring and tame game of all time’.
Before proper mod tools come out, there are Starfield NSFW mods already that give Sarah Morgan a voluptuous butt as well as add ‘lore friendly’ loading screens way steamier than close-ups of your created character’s ugly mug.
Nexus Mods is also home to plenty of depravity with bottomless outfits, anime billboards, and, weirdly, NSFW skins and variants of the Na’Vi race from Avatar. It’s a bizarre world we live in.
In more serious news, redesign plans for the Xbox Series X/S have leaked along with a new controller supporting one of the most unique features of the PS5 DualSense.
