Keanu Reeves is no stranger to the world of video games, but gamers especially want to see him in Mortal Kombat 1 as John Wick and Neo DLC. Unfortunately, the radical actor doesn’t share the same enthusiasm as the MK1 following.
The newly released Mortal Kombat 1 is now available on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox, as well as Nintendo Switch. The MK series always has an amazing roster list at launch, but the DLC is what fans anticipate the most because of bizarre and wonderful crossovers within the realm of Hollywood. A fantastic DLC is already promised, but fans sadly won’t get to realize the dream of performing fatalities as either Keanu Reeves’ John Wick or Neo.
Mortal Kombat 1 fans want Keanu Reeves DLC
Mortal Kombat 1 fans want to see Keanu Reeves join the franchise as either John Wick or Neo DLC.
The MK franchise is famous for its bizarre and wonderful crossovers. In MK11 alone there was Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator T-800, and there was also Sylvester Stallone as Rambo.
Keanu Reeves is one of the most beloved action heroes in the world, so it’s no surprise fans want to see him join the beloved fighting game. Speaking specifically about Neo, some fans want to see a guest character that uses both Kung Fu and guns, meanwhile, John Wick is also seen as ideal for his prowess with Judo and swords.
Mortal Kombat 1 wants Keanu Reeves DLC
Away from just fans, Mortal Kombat 1 creator Ed Boon wants to see Keanu Reeves DLC, too.
The Mortal Kombat 11 guest characters would’ve been different if Ed Boon got everything he wanted. He dreamed about an unspecified crossover with Street Fighter, but he also wanted either John Wick or Neo in the 2019 installment.
Sadly, neither came to fruition. However, Ed Boon still dreams about the Matrix actor starring in an MK video game.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Ed Boon fantasized about Mortal Kombat 1 where every character is played by a famous actor. Megan Fox is in the game as Nitara, but Ed Boon did not get Keanu Reeves as Kenshi.
Keanu Reeves doesn’t want to be in MK
Keanu Reeves has previously said that he does not want to see either John Wick or Neo in Mortal Kombat.
Speaking to Esquire back in 2021 about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Reeves was asked if he would want to appear in MK. Below is his response:
‘If it was up to me? No, Mortal Kombat is awesome in so many ways, but I think… you know, Neo, John Wick, they’re doing their own thing. Mortal Kombat is doing their own thing.’
It’s a shame Keanu Reeves doesn’t want either character in the series, but never say never as anything can happen in the future. If you need your dose of Keanu Reeves, you can enjoy seeing him in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty.
As for Mortal Kombat 1, there are plenty of celebrities already. Many of the face models are supermodels and YouTubers, meanwhile, Kombat Pack 1 is coming out in 2024, and it stars John Cena as Peacemaker, Anthony Starr as Homelander from The Boys, and J.K. Simmons as Omni Man.
And, in the world of dreaming about a Mortal Kombat where every character is played by someone famous, that already exists in the world of cosplay. A muscle goddess IFBB pro wows as Kitana, and WWE-bound Jade Cargill slays as, well, Jade.
