Leaked plans have potentially revealed a brand new controller as well as a whole redesign for the Xbox Series X/S in 2024. And, if all comes to fruition, there are lots of new features for Microsoft fans to be excited about.
The Xbox Series X/S first came out in 2020 alongside PlayStation‘s competition, the PS5. Microsoft’s Xbox Series X is the more powerful machine with 1TB of storage, meanwhile, the original Series S is the baby version with 500 GB. Both consoles are equally stunning and greatly benefit from Microsoft’s nirvana for gamers, Xbox Game Pass. While both machines are good, they’re about to get even better if leaked redesign plans become reality.
Leaked Xbox Series X/S redesign plans for 2024
Plans for new versions of the Xbox Series X/S consoles have apparently leaked for 2024.
The Xbox Series X and S upgrade scheme documents were leaked but the FTC has issued a statement that they were not responsible for the leak. Although things are always subject to change and plans may not materialize but, if they do, then Microsoft loyalists have an exciting 2024 ahead of them.
Per the documents, the new version of the Series X is codenamed ‘Brooklin’. It is currently slated to release late next year in November, meanwhile, the new Series S codenamed ‘Ellewood’ is slated for September 2024.
The new Series X has a cylindrical shape that resembles an Alexa. There is no disc drive, and its storage space is 2TB instead of 1 TB. It also supports Wi-Fi 6E for better throughput latency, and it boasts 15% less power consumption, too. As if this wasn’t enough, its price will remain $499.
Unfortunately, nothing has been leaked about the new features of the Series S refresh. However, there are specifics about a new Xbox controller.
New Xbox controller for 2024
Away from new Xbox Series X/S machines, documents leaked by the FTC also point to a unique controller coming next year.
Looking at the documents, it is a two-toned accessory that is half white and half black. It supports haptic feedback just like the PS5 controller, and it has quieter buttons and thumbsticks, too.
The layout of buttons and thumbsticks remains the same, and it has a replaceable and rechargeable battery. Fans will also be able to play anywhere thanks to Xbox Wireless 2, Direct-to-Cloud, and Bluetooth 5.2.
This controller is slated for May next year with a price of $70. Again, although leaked, none of this is official as of writing, and plans can always change or never materialize.
In other Xbox news, eight games are leaving Xbox Game Pass before the beginning of October 2023. Starfield is also one of the biggest Microsoft exclusives of all time with 10 million players, and NSFW mods have given Sarah Morgan a voluptuous butt.
