Although arguably the biggest game of the year so far, Starfield is also considerably the most divisive. Gamers either love it or hate it, and a viral video show why it ‘sucks’ vs Cyberpunk 2077.

Starfield is entirely free to enjoy over on Xbox Game Pass. It’s an incredibly ambitious open-world RPG full of hundreds of planets to explore instead of just one large playground. NSFW mods are already out like clockwork, and some give the best girl Sarah Morgan a more voluptuous butt. While mods are key to the game’s future years from now, some people are not impressed with its current state, and there are pretty damning comparisons online to Cyberpunk 2077.

Starfield vs Cyberpunk 2077

A viral video online shows why Starfield ‘sucks’ vs. Cyberpunk 2077.

Uploaded to YouTube by Prizzaa Gaming Channel, the Starfield vs. Cyberpunk comparison was shared to Reddit. The video shows in-game differences between in-game animations and none of it is pretty for the Bethesda sci-fi RPG.

The very first clip shows the main character jumping into a pool of water from a deathly height. There’s no animation whatsoever, and the MC simply hits the water completely fine while still standing up. Over in Cyberpunk 2077 though, the MC crashes into the water and begins swimming.

Other footage shows Starfield NPCs not reacting to guns aimed at them, whereas in Cyberpunk 2077 NPCs verbally respond and run away. Another clip shows grenades exploding above water. In Starfield, it’s just a normal explosion like anywhere else, meanwhile, in Cyberpunk 2077, the water actually splashes.

Fans react to Starfield vs Cyberpunk 2077 video

In response to the Starfield vs Cyberpunk 2077 video, one of the comments on YouTube says ‘It’s a Bethesda game, meaning unpaid fans will improve their game as per usual’. Another comment says ‘It’s a sad day when Cyber Punk 2077, after all its massive flaws on launch, is the example that makes another Triple A game look bad’.

Another reply is unfiltered fire with, ‘Honestly, this isn’t a fair comparison. Cyberpunk is a next gen game while Starfield is a 2015 game’. Another user echoes the outdated sentiment by claiming ‘Bethesda still thinks that they are in 2011,’ and some fans ‘wouldn’t be surprised if Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty ends up being better than Starfield’.

YouTuber Asmongold reacted to the comparison in a video titled ‘Starfield is pure trash‘. To 1.2M views as of writing, Asmongold responded to what he was seeing by especially laughing at footage of the Starfield NPCs walking nonchalantly while the player sprays bullets at their feet.

In the comments on Reddit, one user claimed they always felt Cyberpunk was better than anything Bethesda marketed, whereas others are devastated that the NPCs don’t react to guns.

But, on the flip side, lots of people have defended Bethesda’s new IP. Many defenders pointed out that Cyberpunk 2077 was abysmal at launch, and that a 2020 comparison would have a much different narrative. Meanwhile, lots of people are just debating the quality of Starfield with some saying it’s ‘overhyped’ while others say it’s something enjoyable for fans of Bethesda.

Both Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077 are separate entities with devoted fanbases. They are both great experiences that have their own unique pros and cons.

Starfield is now completely available on Xbox Game Pass for free. Meanwhile, the Cybperunk 2077 update 2.0 comes out on September 21st followed by Phantom Liberty expansion on September 26th.

If you’re unsure about returning to Night City, some good news is that the Phantom Liberty review embargo lifts well before the DLC launch date. And, if you’ve forgotten what happened in Night City, you can watch this amazing Cyberpunk 2077 fan-made movie to refresh your memory.
