A new Nintendo Switch title will be hitting our screens later this month, which will bring some much-needed life back to a beloved franchise.
Super Mario is arguably the most recognizable gaming character in the world. Nintendo‘s beloved poster boy has been a prevalent part of the gaming world since he made his debut in Donkey Kong way back in 1981.
Mario titles have changed dramatically since then. With more titles than you can count, the Italian plumber has been on countless adventures – whether that be in a Go-Kart, turning into paper, or being sent to space.
But as of late, Mario games have become a bit stale. The last big title to make serious waves in the gaming world had to be Super Mario Odyssey – which is now a whopping six years old.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder set to reinvigorate the Mario franchise
This is why we’re so excited for the upcoming all-new title – Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
According to Mario Wiki, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a 2.5D-style platformer that supports both single-player and simultaneous multiplayer modes.
Its art direction is reminiscent of the New Super Mario Bros. series of games, incorporating changes such as updated character designs and new sets of animations.
The title’s big ploy is something called a ‘wonder flower’ which is a power-up that changes the world around Mario and friends in unique and strange ways.
Examples include bringing warp pipes to life, talking flowers, gravity-defying physics and so much more.
The Mario franchise needed this
Going back to our original point of Mario games feeling somewhat stale in recent times – we can’t help but think this will change the trajectory of the franchise back on track.
The idea behind the new game is so fresh and innovative – which will bring a realm of excitement back to Mario games.
Titles released over the past few years have been far too predictable and although great games in their own right – they didn’t have anything to make them stand out amongst the crowd.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder should do just that, unleashing a Mario game that breaks boundaries like never before.

The Super Mario Bros. Wonder release date is October 20, 2023.
