One-hour of gameplay footage for Lords of the Fallen 2023 has been shared online. Lots of gamers are in awe of the massive presentation, and there’s a feeling it resembles Bloodborne more than Dark Souls.

Lords of the Fallen is coming out just in time for Halloween on 13 October 2023. It’s a comeback for the series that never managed to take flight back in 2014 because it lacked a strong unique identity and never truly committed to the Soulsborne gameplay. But, now the series is making a resurgence, and fans are hopeful it will be another fantastic addition to the mountain of games inspired by FromSoftware.

Lords of the Fallen 2023 one-hour gameplay footage

One hour of gameplay footage for Lords of the Fallen 2023 has been shared online.

The footage first provides a look at the game’s main menu and character creator before descending into proper full-on gameplay. And a lot of it looks like a typical Soulsborne type of game from the HUD to the dark fantasy world to the animations.

On Reddit, many agree that it looks much better than the original installment that bombed back in 2014. Some are optimistic about how good it looks, but there is a consensus that the animations need improving.

It’s obviously inspired by FromSoftware and Gamingbible claim it is ‘more Bloodborne than Dark Souls‘. Gamingbible’s Ewan Moore has had hands-on with the game, and he’s very complimentary about the aesthetics and graphics delivered by the power of Unreal Engine 5.

Similarities in gameplay between Dark Souls and Lords of the Fallen 2023 include shrines to rest at, brutally difficult enemies to defeat, a ‘decaying fantasy world’, and a character creator with different classes.

It’s arguably closer to Bloodborne to Dark Souls because of quicker combat with an emphasis on speed and parrying. In addition, Lords of the Fallen also reportedly leans into a survival horror aesthetic, with an explorable Umbral Plane said to be especially scary.

Lords of the Fallen launches for PlayStation, PC, and Xbox on October 13th. While waiting for it to come out, fans on Xbox can enjoy Lies of P on Xbox Game Pass.
