One of the most promising and rising Finnish CS:GO talents, the VAC-banned JElias “Jamppi” Olkkonen recently posted on Twitter that he is finally unbanned from Valve Majors.

The ENCE star made headlines last year with his public legal battle against Valve where he disputed the VAC-ban that he was handed earlier. However, Valve ended up with the upper-hand forcing the prodigy to switch to Valorant for better luck.

With his recent Tweet though, his fans could potentially be in for a surprise. Or not?

Is Jamppi Unbanned From CS:GO? Valve’s New Ruling Over VAC Bans

In their blog dedicated to CS:GO, Valve issued some interesting new rules for the upcoming Regional Major Rankings season. The new RMR Eligibilty Guidelines allow anyone with a VAC-ban of over 5 years to return to the official CS:GO competitive circuit.

The blog says:

Up until today, players were ineligible to participate in Valve-sponsored events if they had ever received a VAC-ban in CS:GO. These guidelines had not seen an update since the game was new and all CS:GO VAC bans were relatively recent. But VAC bans can now be more than 8 years old. So we’ve decided to update them.

Moving forward, a VAC ban will only disqualify a player from an event if it was either received less than 5 years prior, or if it was received at any time after their first participation in a Valve-sponsored event (e.g., after participating in a qualifier for an RMR event). Note that VAC bans stay in place with all of their other effects; the only change is how they influence your eligibility to play in Valve-sponsored events.

The Final Question – Will Jamppi Return To CS:GO?

With this new rule, the first question: is Jamppi unbanned?

In 2019, at the height of his career with a promising offer from OG themselves, Jamppi received a slap in the face from Valve. The makers of CS:GO informed the Finnish prodigy that he had a VAC-banned account under his control back in 2015, thus banning him from Valve-sponsored Majors.

However, with the new ruling, is Jamppi unbanned? Technically, yes. Since 6 years have passed since the alleged fraud, Jamppi will be allowed to compete in the upcoming Regional Major Rankings 2021 season. However, it will be a difficult decision for the 19-year-old. After all, he recently transitioned to Valorant and is currently playing with Team Liquid.

With his recent Tweet, speculations are rife with the possible return of the player. He’s commented on his stream earlier that he does miss CS:GO and his Tweet has received tons of replies asking for his return.

For now, only time will tell whether Jamppi makes the switch back to CS:GO.
