Counter-Strike 2 is now available for everyone to download and play for free. Unfortunately, some people have experienced issues with lag and stuttering, and here’s a guide for how to see and boost your FPS in CS2.
CS2 is exclusive to Steam with no plans to bring it to console for either PlayStation or Xbox. Although its arrival is something fans have anticipated for a long time, the sad news is that its debut has brought an end to CS: GO. This is disappointing news, but, fortunately, Counter-Strike 2 is good enough to enjoy on its own. And you can make it even better by boosting your FPS on PC.
How to show FPS in CS2
Simply input the below commands to show and see your FPS in CS2:
- Press ~ to open the in-game console
- Type ‘cl_showfps 1’
- Tap Enter
This will show in the upper left corner how many frames-per-second your game is running at. Unfortunately, some people are complaining about lag and stuttering, so your performance may be jumping up and down.
If you no longer want to see your FPS on screen, simply open the in-game console and input ‘cl_showfps 0’.
Best settings to boost FPS in CS2
YouTuber leStripeZ has shared their best settings to get an FPS boost in CS2.
They say to have the display mode full-screen with the highest refresh rate possible (360 HZ) and make sure Boost Player Contrast is enabled in the advanced video settings. They also recommend disabling Wait for Vertical Sync and change Multisampling Anti-Aliasing Mode to 2X MSAA.
Make sure Global Shadow Quality is high because they’re real-time, and change Model/Texture detail to low. Texture Filtering Mode on Bilinear, Shader Detail on low, Particle Detail on low, Ambient Occlusion should be disabled, and High Dynamic Range changed to quality.
