With the release of EA Sports FC 24 coming soon, career mode is returning but what are the new features in the player version?
EA Sports FC 24 is released for Ultimate Edition purchasers this week on Playstation and Xbox, with the focus typically on Ultimate Team at the beginning of the game cycle. With that being said if UT isn’t for you then why not try a player career mode save? This mode allows you to create, or play as an existing player and play out season after season, controlling whoever you choose. You decide where you start your career and see where it takes you with transfers, loans, injuries and more on the road to success. Every edition of Career Mode comes with new features that differ from previous years, so let’s take a look at what is new in this campaign.
Career Mode PlayStyles
This feature aims to allow players to make their player more customizable and unique to themselves, shaping how their own player grows. There are seven personality levels that allow you to select a PlayStyle which will bolster your player’s abilities.
PlayStyles are a feature that is being heavily pushed by EA Sports with it featuring in several different game modes from Ultimate Team to Pro Clubs. It is heavily integrated throughout the game and has unique effects on players individually.
There are three personality types that will alter the way your pro plays. These are:
- Maverick
- Heartbeat
- Virtuoso
The more you dedicate time and effort to improving a particular type of personality, the more PlayStyles will become available from that type. This evolves over time and allows your player to grow rather than having them all available instantly.
Player Agent
As it is in real life, players have agents. They take control of transfers, contracts and help you to forge the career that you want. They help to negotiate deals on your behalf which can allow for better contracts throughout your career.
At the end of each season, your progress will be evaluated and your current club will decide if your future lies with them or away from the club. With that being said, you are able to set up a target team and receive recommendations from your agent.

While at a club, you will be able to select the next club on your path, with a view to joining them in the future. Your agent will evaluate your choice of target and if they feel you are aiming to high they will suggest a middle ground.
You aren’t guaranteed to join your target club, as they might not want to sign you due to budget or their tactical approach and as a result, you will have to look elsewhere. This doesn’t mean they will never sign you, however.
As the season goes on your agent will give you specific opportunities tailored to your career. These are based on your performances over the season which may improve your chances of a bigger move in the future.
A new feature is the ability to become a free agent and wait for a new club to sign you. If a club comes in for you that you don’t fancy, you can wait for more offers to come in and take your time with a decision.
Dynamic Moments
There are new cinematics and cut scenes in EA Sports FC 24 player career this year, with different events being portrayed by these.
The Ballon d’Or has been in the game for years, but only as a news tile on the menu. Now there is a cutscene which, if you win the award, shows your player going up to the plinth and accepting the award.

There is also an awards night for the manager and player of the season award which will be presented in similar cutscenes, just without the gravitas of the Ballon d’Or.
When you win a trophy, it is the ultimate, the end goal of any season or career is to win trophies. So when you do, you want it to be special. This year it will, with open-top bus trophy parades. These will bring all your trophies together and show them off to the fans of your club.
There are some fun new features that have been added to this year’s edition of the game, and with it getting closer to a real-life scenario, career mode is getting even better.
