There have been plenty of accusations around iDrop_BodiEs cheating in Fortnite Summer Skirmish 2.

While it was much better than the first week, the second Summer Skirmish was still a bit of a mess.

Thankfully, we didn’t have to deal with some seriously terrible lag. Instead, we were treated to some accusations of cheating; even top streamers were kicking up a fuss about the result.

There was even some drama ahead of the event; Epic Games decided to host the tournament on Friday – clashing with Keemstar’s Friday Fortnite.

The event was won by iDroPz_BoDiEs who walked away with $130,000 after qualifying through his rank on the Solo Showdown LTM. Incredibly, he pulled off a 24 kill win in the first game, which put him on top from the start.

Unlike other contenders, he wasn’t streaming due to not being able to do a 2-minute delay on PS4. From this, accusations started flying around that something fishy was going on.

As the tournament kept going on, iDropz continued getting high-kill wins and more big name streamers began to speak up about it. Eventually, people claimed that he was using a mouse and keyboard on PS4 or getting his mates to enter lobbies and let him kill them.

Even Ninja and Dr Lupo were getting salty about this

So, was he cheating? Well, after he walked away with the $60,000, the rest of the internet stepped up their witch hunt game.

Things got so bad in fact that Epic was forced to release a statement on Reddit defending him. Some of the big talking point from this were:

Stat tracking isn’t always reliable

Stat tracking sites are unreliable for historical recording performance, as they only update when the website requests stats for a user from the API.

This makes any ‘Most Eliminations in a Single Match’ records on an account unlikely to be correct, as multiple matches in a period are combined into one update. iDroPz_BoDiEs has achieved more than 20 eliminations in a game numerous times across his Fortnite career.

Mouse and Keyboard on console is fine if supported

There is no evidence that would suggest to us that iDroPz_BoDiEs played the competition using a mouse and keyboard. Furthermore, we do not restrict the input device for players on our platforms to promote accessibility for our entire audience.”

All of the iDropz kills were on different players

Our internal Summer Skirmish analytics kept track of all opponents which participants eliminated. iDroPz_BoDiEs had 129 eliminations during the event, and every single elimination was on a different opponent. This is not indicative of him having been intentionally fed eliminations and collusion with other players.

So, was he cheating? Well, all signs point to no and with this much evidence backing up that fact how can you argue with it?
