Will there be a Nintendo Direct April 2019?
It’s been a big few months for Nintendo. The last Nintendo Direct revealed news and release dates for Mario Maker 2, Dragon Quest XI Switch, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and more.
However, even bigger announcements have come since. Pokémon Sword and Shield were announced via an exclusive Pokémon Direct broadcast.
There was also the Nintendo Indie Highlights showcase. This revealed games such as Cuphead and Cadence of Hyrule coming to Switch.

But there could be even more big news. For instance, Wall Street Journal reported there are two new Switch consoles coming this year.
The Super Smash Bros Ultimate Spring Update will also come by the end of April. This could hint that we also get Persona 5 R: The Royal for Switch. With more Persona 5 R news set to come on April 24th, it’s not out of the question we get another Nintendo Direct.
However, with some big video game events this year, we may have to wait longer for the next Direct.
When is the next Nintendo Direct?
Although an April Nintendo Direct would be great, Nintendo may save their big news for later.
E3 2019 starts on June 11th. Last year, Nintendo held an E3 2018 Nintendo Direct broadcast to announce many of their biggest games of the year.
As such, we may need to wait until summer for the next big Nintendo broadcast. This would likely include information for the new Switch consoles, a new Smash Ultimate DLC character, and updates on the new Pokémon and Zelda games.
Nothing is for certain yet, but a summer Nintendo Direct seems like the most likely bet.
