The Nindies Showcase Spring 2019 showed off a range of new indie titles coming to the Switch. There are many exciting games soon to come, including Cuphead for Switch. But one of the best was saved for last. A new Zelda Game for Switch, Cadence of Hyrule, crosses the world of Legend of Zelda with the rhythmic action of Crypt of the Necrodancer. Here’s the trailer.
Zelda Meets Crypt of the Necrodancer in Cadence of Hyrule
The new Zelda game for Switch is a collaboration between popular indie title Crypt of the Necrodancer and, of course, The Legend of Zelda.
The trailer shows titular character Cadence navigating through a world similar to that of Link to the Past and Link’s Awakening. You’ll battle monsters from the series and crawl through dungeons to progress through the game.
But that’s not all. You’ll also get to use Link and even Princess Zelda in battle. There may even be a multiplayer co-op aspect.
The game’s inception came when Brace Yourself Games asked Nintendo if they could use Zelda content as DLC for Crypt of the Necrodancer. This soon became a fully-fledged game, complete with Zelda characters, locations, and music.
It’s a rare sight to see Nintendo giving an indie developer a chance with one of their hottest properties. However, this may open up the door to more Nintendo/indie collaborations in the future.
Another New Zelda Game for Switch?
Cadence of Hyrule will come out sometime in Spring 2019. But it isn’t the only game The Legend of Zelda fans have to be excited about.
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening will also come to the Nintendo Switch in 2019. The game is a remaster of the Game Boy classic. It features new graphics and music with the same gameplay, locations, and events.
While there are no new main-series Zelda titles on the horizon, these fun games should keep fans occupied in the meantime.
