The final Pokemon GO Spotlight Hour of March is here and it’s the final iteration of the recent spate of Alolan Pokemon – this time, the event will feature Popplio, but can it be shiny?
Popplio, Pokemon Sun and Moon’s Water-type starter, follows in the footsteps of the game’s two other starter Pokemon, with Rowlet (Grass-type) and Litten (Fire-type) also stepping into the spotlight.
While the month ended with three of Sun and Moon’s Pokemon, it didn’t start that way, with Eevee as the first featured Pokemon in March.
But back to the week at hand, here’s whether Popplio can be shiny in Pokemon GO’s final Spotlight Hour of the month, plus the bonuses that will be available during the event.
POPPLIO SPOTLIGHT HOUR DATE, START TIME AND BONUSES
As is always the case, Popplio’s Pokemon GO Spotlight Hour takes place on a Tuesday, this time on March 27.
It will, as the name suggests, run for an hour, between 6 pm and 7 pm in your local time zone.
Niantic will be blessing players with more decent bonuses during this week’s event, with players getting double XP for every Pokemon they catch. If you combine that with a Star Piece during the hour-long window, you’ll net yourself quadruple XP – perfect for working your way towards that next level.
CAN POPPLIO BE SHINY IN THE POKEMON GO MARCH 2023 SPOTLIGHT HOUR?
Unfortunately for Pokemon GO players and shiny hunters alike, Popplio CAN NOT be shiny during the March 2023 Pokemon GO Spotlight Hour.
This marks the third occasion in a row in which the featured Pokemon can’t be shiny, with both Rowlet and Litten sharing the same fate.
It’s a bit of a dire run for fans of the game as up to this point, only one other Pokemon that had been featured during Spotlight Hour couldn’t be shiny, and that was Tynamo back in January.
