Super Smash Bros Ultimate World Championships
Super Smash Bros Ultimate has swiftly become a top esport, with many notable players from Smash Bros for WiiU and Smash Bros Melee competing.
It seems that Nintendo will now get in on the esports action. This weekend, they held the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate North America Open 2019.
The event saw teams of 3 going head-to-head in a Squad Strike battle, with Team Southeast coming out on top.

Football Manager 2022 Predicts Everton's Next Manager
The winning team will now proceed to the Super Smash Bros Ultimate World Championships. Nintendo will then host the event in in Los Angeles on June 8.
We’ll likely see the NAO 2019 winners go against top players in the game, although the rest of the competitors are yet to be announced.
It seems like Nintendo plans to get more involved with their own esports this year. While Super Smash Bros is generally a homegrown esport with individually-run tournaments, Nintendo are now getting in on the action.
The 3v3 format is definitely a strange exception to the usual, but may appeal more to casual audiences who aren’t familiar with the Smash Ultimate competitive scene.
Splatoon 2 World Championships
Nintendo will also host the Splatoon 2 World Championships alongside the Smash Ultimate event.
This will feature the winners of the Splatoon 2 North America Inkling Open 2019. Team FTWIN eventually won the event in a single elimination tournament against other top teams.
Despite a strong showing from Lowkey, FTWin takes it home with a 4-3 win and becomes your #Splatoon2 #NintendoNAO19 champions! Thanks to all the teams for coming out to #PAXEast, and we’ll see FTWin at the World Championships in June! pic.twitter.com/F4U6lvVBgb
