Thanos Fortnite review: We give our honest opinion on Fortnite’s latest game mode

We needed to talk about it, so we decided to do a Fortnite Thanos review.

Thanos being in Fortnite really is still quite weird, but it seems to be very popular.

When Epic announced that they were teaming up with Marvel we were all a little confused at what it would be. While many thought it would include some skins or maybe a new weapon, no one expected a new game mode. The Inifity Gauntlet game-mode is something that has totally changed the Fortnite meta, but is it for the better?

Well, I had a few good hours playing against and with Thanos last night and noticed a few things. Now, time for some honesty, I’ve not seen ANY of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films other than Iron Man and Guardians of the Galaxy – so really Thanos means nothing to me. So really, this wasn’t something I was overly excited about.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, we can get on with my review, right?

What is the game mode like?

Fortnite VS Marvel: Thanos now in Fortnite for Limited Time mode

It is actually quite similar to the Blitz LTM that was introduced a few weeks ago. The storm forms before you enter the map, you gain more materials and higher-tier weapons spawn more often. Then, of course, there is Thanos, well his gauntlet. After a minute or so, you will hear or see a meteor crash to earth, and anyone lucky enough to grab it will become Thanos. If you die as him, the gauntlet will drop to allow anyone else to pick it up; this continues until one is left.

What is good about it?

Well, for Marvel fans it will be super cool to play as that grizzled Eternal-Deviant. Afterall, my Twitter feed is full of Thanos memes, and my friends won’t shut the hell up about him.

However, if you’re just a Fortnite fan or DC fanboy like me, you will still have a great time. Thanos is super cool to play as, and unless a group teams up on you, you should be able to destroy anyone regardless of how good they are.

What is bad about it?

It is solo only. Seriously, that is the worst bit and the only real negative. I know it wouldn’t make total sense to have two Thanos’, but solos aren’t for everyone. A good friend of mine said that maybe they could add the rest of his lieutenants so you could play as them in duos or squads. The other option would just have two gauntlets! We all want to play as Thanos so potentially an infection game mode would work but it is unlikely we’ll see that… you know because it isn’t Battle Royale.

Verdict?

If you’re a Marvel nut or just a Fortnite fan, you’ll love it. It is fast-paced and requires you to not only fight against others but team up with them to defeat Thanos. Hopefully, they will add duos and squads to the playlist.
