Fortnite Rocket riding is game changing and pretty amazing

Rocket riding in Fortnite is one of the best things to happen to the meta. In the early days it was very hard to pull it off, what with the whole team killing being a problem.

In many ways, rocket riding is Fortnite’s equivalent to rocket jumping in Quake or Team Fortress 2 – which was great fun. In fact, rocket jumping became such a huge part of the meta of both those games. Being able to do it became a huge asset to your game, albeit one that took a while to get a hold of.

As for rocket riding, the guided missile has been a huge addition. It has taken a little fine tuning to get used to using it without downing yourself or all your teammates. And while guided missile launchers have been a bit of an issue when in battles against them, they are great fun for rocket riding.

Like with how Quake players revolutionised how to rocket jump, Fortnite players have taken on the task on how to get bigger and better rocket rides.

In fact, YouTube JoahJ456 has managed to self-rocket ride himself across the entire Fortnite map in a ridiculous clip. Then there is Grant Haynes, aka Fickle_Platypus, a Rocket League caster who was able to do this rather fantastic guided missile launcher across most of the map. He also proved that there is a moment with a guided missile where the missile itself almost stops still in midair, allowing for players to jump on.

So what will this new meta defining trick do to Fortnite? Well, like how players improved and improvised with their building techniques and used impulse grenades to make clutch plays, expect to see more guided missile rocket riders. If you have been playing the Explosive’s only playlist, you should have managed to get plenty of practice doing it.
