Xbox boss Phil Spencer has issued an update on whether the Call of Duty franchise will still be available for PlayStation after the recent Activision and Microsoft deal.
Not too long ago, Microsoft sealed a long-awaited deal for Activision Blizzard, and it’s paid $69bn for the privilege.
The deal had many PlayStation fans worried that the beloved series would lose access to be played on their respected consoles when the deal was to come to fruition.
Thankfully an update has been provided – and it’s fantastic news for Sony fans.

Xbox boss issues update on future of Call of Duty on PlayStation
Xbox chief Phil Spencer appeared on a podcast this week (Via X) to confirm the series will continue to have “100 percent parity” on PlayStation consoles.
“We have no goal of somehow using Call of Duty to get you to buy an Xbox console,” Spencer stated, confirming there won’t be a platform-exclusive beta anymore for Call of Duty.
“We’ve been on the other side of some of those skins and times… Even this beta, it wasn’t on Xbox the first week. I don’t think that helps the community, I don’t think it helps the game.”
A monumental W for gamers everywhere.
Great news!
This really is fantastic news, for multiple reasons.
Both Sony and Microsoft have ruled the gaming stratosphere over the years, both providing some phenomenal consoles, exclusives and so much more.
But an acquisition of one of the biggest games in the business would surely sway some fans over to a certain console if it were an exclusive.
This would be downright unfair to your average gamer, who maybe can’t afford the other console. It’s great to see Phil Spencer going down this route. We really commend him for it.
