Pokemon Go beats Fortnite in July revenue charts.

People may keep telling you that Pokemon Go is dead, but it keeps on firing back. It was one of the biggest games in the world in 2016; only to see a noticeable decline after just a few months. However, by no means is it dead, no. In fact, it is very much alive and kicking.

Think of the most popular mobile games right now, and you probably think Fortnite, Candy Crush, and Clash of Clans. Well, Pokemon Go has knocked all of those out of the water; the Niantic game is the highest grossing mobile game in the US for July 2018.

Worldwide Pokemon Fever

In fact, for worldwide top revenue games, Pokemon Go came in fourth place, below Monster Strike, Honour of Kings, and Fate/Grand Order. We have previously reported that Pokemon Go was earning a whopping $2M a day. In that piece, we noted that America had spent more than $600m since the game’s release – even more than Japan.

So, why has Pokemon Go enjoyed a revival and became more profitable than Fortnite? Well, in July alone there was six community or special event days, giving players plenty of reasons to get involved.

  • Squirtle Community Day
  • Articuno Day
  • Zapdos Day
  • Dortmund Tie-in event including Shiny Roselia
  • GO Fest Tie-in including Shiny Plusle & Minun and Alolan Geodude & Diglett
  • Lucky Pokémon

Now in August and Pokemon Go is still doing these community days, with the Eevee one happening last weekend. With raids, trading and gifting now added to the game as well as PVP; you really should give Pokemon Go another go.
