Nintendo UK esports…finally!
It appears that Nintendo is looking to break into the competitive market in the UK.
Today saw the launch of the UK version of Nintendo’s popular ‘Nintendo Versus’ Twitter account. The main aim of this is to give updates and reaction to any competitions going on in the UK.
Last year saw quite a few tournaments come to the UK, including the Splatoon 2 Championships and the Switch Championships.
And this year looks to be the same, with regular competitions across the UK on a smaller stage. Hopefully, this will help push just how popular Nintendo games are.

Nintendo esports to become more popular in the UK?
Obviously, they have a massive following in Asia, especially Japan, but the competitive UK and European scene would undoubtedly help with opening a new market.
Oddly, this is a surprising move considering how Nintendo is somewhat infamous due to not really supporting their esports scene. However, the UK branch has been considerably better, helping smaller events with prizes and promotions in the past.
In fact, one of the accounts first tweets was them promoting Team Mako and 4D who are representing the UK in the Splatoon 2 European Championships.
Nintendo UK esports is looking like it will be kicking off in 2018.
