Ninja pro Fortnite player? Well, it is unlikely that we will see that any time soon.
Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevin has revealed that he is unlikely to join the ranks of pro-Fortnite players in a telling interview with ESPN.
In little over a year, Ninja has become one of the most prominent streamers in the world, helping propel Fortnite into the biggest game in the world. Since he moved from streaming H1Z1 and PUBG to Fortnite, Ninja is now gaining 6 million hours of viewership; he even started partnerships with the likes of Red Bull.
While Myth, Daequan, and tfue have all gone on to sign for professional esport teams, Ninja hasn’t committed to anyone and is likely not going to.
Speaking in an interview with ESPN, Ninja revealed he is very much on the fence.
Ninja’s interview with ESPN
“I am still right now on the fence. I don’t know if I want to focus on one or the other,”
I know that I would have to go to these tournaments. It’s going to take away from my stream time, take away from content, that also takes away from my Instagram, my YouTube channel and also my Twitter clips, that get a tonne of interactions and mentions. All of that falls off when I start going to tournaments, and if I don’t win those tournaments, then I don’t recoup that money back.”
“Right now, these online events that are going on are absolutely perfect, where I can stay at home, stream the entire thing, gain subscribers and ad revenue. And also bring in new followers, it’s just a win-win to stay at home and stream.”
With Epic Games likely to start organising proper LAN events, we may not see Ninja at them too often; especially if they are weekly or almost daily league play like the Overwatch League is.
One thing is for sure though; the Ninja hype train is unlikely to slow down any time soon.
