Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the biggest PlayStation exclusive still set to come out this year. Here you will find a guide to all of the villains in the upcoming sequel along with the release date, multiplayer status, and official news concerning a PC port.
Even though it is a sequel to the first game and Miles Morales expansion, you can still come into Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 completely blind. Meanwhile, if you experienced either Insomniac entry, you will be pleased to hear that the upcoming sequel promises more blistering webslinging action through the bustling city of New York. Only now Venom is prowling the streets, and there’s the symbiote suit turning Peter Parker from virtuous do-gooder to angsty emo.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 release date
The release date for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is October 20th.
It is exclusive to the PlayStation console. It is also restricted to PS5, meaning it will not be available to webheads still stuck on the PS4.
As for why it’s restricted to next-gen only, it’s because Insomniac is really pushing the hardware of the PS5. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 looks better, runs smoother, is even bigger, and loads much faster. All of this and more means it could not perform on PS4 without significant downgrades.
Unfortunately, the game will never be on Xbox because Insomniac is owned by PlayStation. In addition, PlayStation is a Sony brand, and Spider-Man belongs to Sony, too.
While Marvel’s most popular superhero will never websling over to Xbox, he may journey over to the world of PC.

Is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 coming to PC?
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is not coming to PC.
PC players will not be able to step into the colorful tights of either Peter Parker or Miles Morales come October 20th.
However, there is a strong possibility of a PC port post-launch. Marvel’s Spider-Man came out on PS4 back in September 2018, and it then joined PC via Steam in August 2022.
Sony has confirmed they will be continuing PC ports for PlayStation exclusives ‘because it’s making a ton of money‘. The Last of Us is the most recent PC port, meanwhile, leaks suggest Horizon Forbidden West is getting carried over to computers, too.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is not confirmed to be joining PC, but an eventual release seems likely. Sadly, it probably won’t happen for many years similar to the first game.
Is there early access?
There is no early access pre-order bonus.
The only way to get early access to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is by executing the New Zealand trick. Because of the time differences between New Zealand and the rest of the world, this trick allows players in the United States and the United Kingdom to enjoy video games one day before release.
However, unlike on Xbox, the New Zealand trick is not simple on PlayStation. You have to create a New Zealand account, you have to buy gift cards online to use on the New Zealand PSN store, and these gift cards cost more than buying the game regularly.
The lack of an early access pre-order bonus is disappointing, but there are plenty of other rewards to enjoy.

What villains are in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?
Below is the list of confirmed villains for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 so far:
- Venom
- Mr. Negative
- Lizard
- Grizzly
- Kraven the Hunter
These are only the confirmed villains in the game. However, you should expect to encounter and save New York from a much larger gallery of iconic rogues.
Venom is the most interesting villain so far because he is Harry Osborne rather than Eddie Brock. At the end of Marvel’s Spider-Man, it was confirmed that Harry Osborne didn’t leave Peter and MJ for Europe, but was instead hidden by his father, Norman.
Norman Osborne had been concealing Harry away from the world and inside a tank to prevent him from dying at the hands of a mysterious disease. In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Harry Osborne somehow escapes the tank and becomes one with Venom.
Away from Harry, we also know Peter gets infected by the symbiote. This has exciting gameplay ramifications as it means we get to control an angsty, angry, emo Peter with tentacles and even more superhuman ferocity.
Kraven the Hunter is interesting too because he and his mercenaries are on the hunt to capture both Peter and Miles. It will also be interesting to see what role Mr. Negative plays returning from his defeat in the first game.
Away from what’s confirmed, all we can do is speculate about who else is in the game. Doctor Octopus could make a return, and the Green Goblin seems likely as Norman is confirmed to be a significant part of the story.

Does Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 have multiplayer?
Unfortunately, there is no multiplayer co-op for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
This is a massive shame as the story revolves around two spider-men rather than just one. Not only that, but the recurring and misleading tagline is ‘Be Greater. Together.’.
Roaming through New York with one friend as Peter and the other as Miles would have been perfect. However, all you will do instead is simply switch between the two characters during free-roaming and specific missions.
The lack of multiplayer isn’t a dealbreaker, but it is disappointing. Yes, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is cinematic and structurally linear away from the huge open world, but the lack of co-op still feels like a missed opportunity.
