Are the Fortnite Jetpacks overpowered? We’ll find out soon enough, as they launch into the hands of the players very soon.

After a few months of waiting, we are finally getting Jetpacks in Fortnite! It was announced back in late February that we could be getting Jetpacks added to the ultra-popular Battle Royale title, but Epic soon decided not to postpone their introduction, to spend more time tweaking them.

However, the first content update to v4.2 will see them added as a Legendary item.

What are they?

The Jetpacks are the first of a new line of items called ‘Backpacks’ and they will take up an inventory slot.

Only one of these Backpacks can be carried at any time, and if you do pick one up, you will drop the one you currently have equipped.

Similar to how you consume a potion or full-heal, the Jetpack will have a specific time limit to the effect it offers, before it explodes.

How do you use them?

Simply jump, and you will see them be engaged in a passive ability while in mid-air. They will give you better movement while in the air, similar to how the Hop Rocks function currently. You can also use them to fly, but be careful not to let them run out, as you’ll take fall damage.

Your best bet would be to use them in short, sharp bursts, allowing time for them to recharge correctly.

Will they be Overpowered?

It is hard to tell yet as we haven’t tried them out; however, if the Hop Rocks are anything to go by then they could be a solid addition to the game.

If you can shoot while using the Jetpack (like many expect), there could be potential for some balancing issues, but Epic Games has been doing a good job so far when it has come to balancing powerful items.

Are the Fortnite Jetpacks overpowered? Well, we’ll have a full review for you as soon as they are released.
