Let’s be honest, the Marseille Fortnite video is really weird, right?
The world of sport and Fortnite seem to be very mixed at the moment. Since the turn of the year, we have seen some of the most prominent American footballer’s and Basketball stars either play or do dances from the game.
However, football — or soccer if you will — is intrinsically linked with Fortnite now. From Dele Alli streaming on Twitch with Myth and Ninja to Antoine Griezmann doing the ‘L’ dance in the World Cup final. Everyone is doing Fortnite dances, from Jesse Lingard to some bloke in the National League who is old enough to know better.
So, with Fortnite and football now as close as WWF and pop culture back in the days of the Rock ‘n’ Wrestling Connection, we think we might have peaked. Or, rather Fortnite and football might have had it’s ‘jumping the shark’ moment. Why? Well, it is all down to how Marseille decided to reveal their new £29m signing, Kevin Strootman.

We’re still a little torn as to whether or not this is amazing or the cringiest thing we have ever seen. However, it did do numbers on Twitter and after all, isn’t that what really matters.
While it didn’t get a retweet from the Fortnite account, it did catch the attention of Griezmann who seemingly loved the video:

So, where do Fortnite and football go from here? Well, we kind of hope they give it a rest. Celebrate and play sure, but maybe knock these videos on the head, eh?
One thing we can all agree on is that the Marseille Fortnite video is really weird!
