Very impressive – Evil Geniuses win Call of Duty World League Championships.

One of the biggest underdog stories in Call of Duty history, Evil Geniuses have won the 2018 Call of Duty World League Championship.

The American side picked up their first ever Call of Duty World League title, beating Team Kaliber 2-3 and 3-0 in the Grand Final. In doing so, they picked up a whopping $600,000 and won their first title since the ESWC 2014.

EG has been on fire this tournament, though had a bit of a nightmare route to the final. In the group stage, they beat out OpTic Gaming in a shocking defeat. Then game wins against Team Vitality, Lightning Pandas and most impressively over Team Envy.

Evil Geniuses Lift the Title

Incredibly, they lost the first round 3-2 to TK in spite of them taking a quick 2-0 lead. In the second round, they destroyed Team Kalibre 3-0 proving they are masters of Capture the Flag.

This was Patrick ‘Aches’ Price and Bryan ‘Apathy’ Zhelyazkov second World title – becoming the fourth players to win two titles. Now only Damon ‘Karma’ Barlow is on three titles; it might not be long before other catch up.

With Black Ops 4 next up for the competitive scene, it will be interesting to see if EG can continue their great performances. However, with the game set to be incredibly different from WWII, it may take them some time to get to grips with the game.
