It looks like we’re getting a Fortnite railgun and it might be amazing!
According to data-miners XDA, there are several new items, weapons and cosmetics coming to Fortnite.
Season 5 has brought us some pretty controversial new items, with the SMG and the Compact SMG being added. Then there was the re-introduction of the Guided Missile Launcher, all of which have changed the meta quite significantly of late.
We already knew about the heavy sniper’s potential inclusion, but it looks like we are getting two more new weapons.
First, is the break-barrel shotgun which should be either a side-by-side shotgun or a sawed-off shotgun. These are always really good weapons and hopefully should be dishing out some serious damage to help counter how good SMG’s have become.

- Heavy Sniper (Heavy Sniper Slower reload time, first shot pieces wall)
- Rail Sniper (Rail gun)
Second is a rumoured railgun sniper rifle.
This should be pretty amazing but has got us wondering where it would fit in with their set to be three sniper and the hand-cannon. We are guessing that Epic will remove either the semi-auto sniper or the hand-cannon and replace it with the railgun.
If you are wondering what a railgun is, then imagine a bolt-action sniper on steroids that not only does bullet damage, but splash damage, too. Hopefully, it will be like the Rorsch Mk-1 from Battlefield 4 and need to charge up with there being a few seconds delay between scoping and firing.
While there are no confirmed dates on when these items will be released, with more than 40 days left of Season 5, we reckon Epic will spread them out a bit. Hopefully, they make sure to test the weapons and not let anything that is too overpowered into the game.
