Demand to play Battalion 1944 so much that dev team had to work over-time to fix server issues

The team behind Battalion 1944 have been forced to put out extra support because of the overwhelming demand to play.

We spoke earlier this week about how Battalion looks like it might just have a very strong competitive scene throughout this year.

And it looks like the popularity of the game is so much that The Bulkhead team needed to restart servers and put out some hotfixes to keep up with the sheer volume of active players.

Currently, Battalion is in the top 100 of the most played games on Steam, with upwards of 10,000 active players at any one time.

Joe Brammer, studio lead for Bulkhead, posted on Steam late on Saturday night about the latest fixes to the game.

“We’re seeing more and more players able to get into games, but of course, it’s still important for us to acknowledge that this is not the case for all players.

“This is why we’ve been working overtime to get fixes ready for you all.

“This is part of our active effort to improve the experience for players as often as we can.

The biggest feedback we’re seeing is that players are loving the game when they can get past the matchmaker.

“We don’t want to push the update tonight as we don’t want to interrupt play for players who are currently in-game during peak times – we’re going to put the update out early morning to combat disrupting players.”

A list of new fixes are:

  • Server Backfilling Fix
  • Region Restrictions Lifted In Certain Countries
  • Accurate Server Browser Player Numbers
  • Temporary Server Browser Solution – Ordered via Number of Players
  • Extra Matchmaking Third Party Stability and Security

These fixes came as the game enjoyed its first player organised tournament which pulled him plenty of viewers on Twitch.
