In the world of gaming, you can get away with having a cheaper keyboard and mouse. However, if you are really committed to getting good at a game, then you do need a good monitor. That being said, don’t go splashing out on a 240hz monitor if you’re only getting 80 fps because you’re just wasting your money.
Now that 144hz is the new standard for PC gaming, you probably will be looking to upgrade – you might as well get your money’s worth out of your GPU.
So, here are three great options, including one budget option, that will bring you to the world of 144hz esports monitors.

This might seem a bit expensive at over £230, but from first-hand experience, it is well worth it. Not only is it a beautifully crisp 144hz monitor but it also has 1ms response time, which is pretty incredible.
This beaut if 24″, so can easily be paired with a second monitor of your choosing, for an excellent experience. Built-in speakers are a plus, as is the fact this is specifically designed for gamers.

I mean, it has esports in the title, so it must be good! And I can confirm it really is as this is the monitor I currently own!
BenQ always makes great monitors, and this is no exception, again it has a 1ms refresh rate which does give you an advantage over opponents. The colours are very crisp and if anything, can be a little too bright for some! Like most 144 monitors, once you upgrade, you really can see the difference.
The only downside on this for me was the fact there was only 1HDMI port, which is a proper pain if you want to hook up your console for a bit of plebbing. Oh and I guess the price at £260 might be a bit much, but still worth it…
As 144hz esports monitors go, this one is pretty much one of the best budget ones.
3. ACER Predator GN246HLBbi

I came very close to getting this, but my fanboying for BenQ meant I splashed out on that instead.
This is about as good as you’re going to get for under £200, which is an excellent price for a 144hz monitor. I know it sounds a lot, but you will really notice the difference, and you’ll never want to go back to anything lower.
3D ready, easy to wall mount and just a 1ms response time, there are very few downsides to this monitor. That being said, people have noticed some ghosting effects which is annoying, and speakers aren’t built-in. However, the ghosting isn’t that bad and if you don’t own speakers or headphones in 2018 then what are you doing with your life?
