There’s some good news for fans of the Smash Bros pro scene- ZeRo will compete in Smash Bros Ultimate tournaments! The former Smash Bros for WiiU pro announced last night that he plans to return to competitive Smash Bros. He’ll also return under a new banner- Tempo Storm.
Who is Smash Bros Pro ZeRo?
Gonzalo “ZeRo” Barrios previously competed in Super Smash Bros Brawl and Super Smash Bros for WiiU. He became the best Smash 4 player in the world, accumulating an ungodly 56 tournament win streak, including many major victories.
However, due to the stress of competing and low prize pools in Smash 4, ZeRo soon retired in January 2018. He also left the TSM organization he had been representing for much of his Smash 4 career.
ZeRo’s Return To Smash Bros Ultimate
Despite his retirement, ZeRo kept busy building his YouTube and Twitch channels and also competed in the Smash Bros Ultimate E3 Invitational, taking home the grand prize against MkLeo in the grand finals.
Now, he plans to compete in Smash Bros Ultimate after the game’s release on December 7th. Although he doesn’t plan to appear in the first Smash Bros Ultimate major tournament, DPG18, he will compete in future events.
Who Will ZeRo Main in Smash Bros Ultimate?
While ZeRo was known for using Diddy Kong in Smash Bros for WiiU, he may mix things up in Smash Bros Ultimate
In a Reddit AMA, ZeRo brought up two potential mains- Diddy Kong and Shulk.

He also expressed interest in using Marth/Lucina and Simon Belmont/Richter Belmont. His previous Smash Bros Ultimate Demo Tier List put Bayonetta at the top, but many changes have been introduced for the final build.
As far as potential rivals go, ZeRo looks forward to playing against Mew2King, Salem, and Leo. With Armada retiring from Melee, it’s also possible he makes a big return to Smash Bros Ultimate.
