An official announcement today states the Virtus Pro CS:GO team will cease competition until further notice. NEO, PashaBiceps, Snatchie, Morelz, and MICHU will no longer be taking part in CS:GO matches under the VP banner.

The move is a direct result of Virtus Pro’s bad form in the past year. Despite roster changes and efforts to improve, the team still struggles to make an impact. While the Virtus Pro CS:GO team may return, it’ll likely look much different than it does now. Here’s more on the breakup.

Virtus Pro CS:GO Team Ends

While no Virtus Pro CS:GO players have been officially cut, the organization states competition will cease until further notice.

The announcement from the Virtus Pro website reads as follows:

Due to latest tournament performance our CS:GO team will cease any competitive activities until further notice. We will announce our next steps by the end of the year.

After relegating from Faceit London Major our squad finished 5th at BLAST Pro Series: Istanbul 2018, did not make it to the main stage of EPICENTER 2018 and could not qualify to the next ESL Pro League season.

It’s clear that the organization is disappointed with the poor performance of a team. Once a CS:GO Major Winner, Virtus Pro have struggled to stay afloat in competitive Counter-Strike for the past couple of years.

What’s Next for Virtus Pro?

Despite bringing young players like MICHU and Snatchie to Virtus Pro, the team hasn’t done any better. After a string of poor performances, it may be the end for Virtus Plow as we know it.

The roster may continue with new players. VP General Manager Roman Dvoryankin states:

The long-term strategy for us is to build a competitive team around young players and we will follow it while making decisions. I’d like to ask our fans to be supportive in the next couple of weeks.

Will Pasha and NEO Retire?

If VP plan to continue their CS:GO team with a roster of new, young players, this spells trouble for Pasha and NEO.

The two legendary players have played for Virtus Pro ever since the beginning of 2014. Their accolades include a CS:GO Major Victory, multiple Major finals, and a string of event wins under the Virtus Pro banner.

Many fans wonder if the players will retire. However, PashaBiceps made it known that he plans to continue in esports.

Fellow pro CS:GO players also showed support to the players.

With TAZ now in Kinguin and byali playing with MIKSTURA, it shows there are still opportunities for the VP pros. Pasha is also one of the most popular CS:GO streamers, meaning a return to Twitch could be in order. We’ll see in time where their careers take them next.
