Ever wondered how TSM Daequan became one of the top Fortnite streamers in the world? Team Solo Mid released a “Meet TSM Daequan” video today. The popular player reveals all about how he got started in Fortnite and climbed to the top rankings of Twitch.
Nowadays, TSM Daequan isn’t just one of the biggest Fortnite streamers, but one of the biggest Twitch streamers in the world overall. He recently hit a massive 2 million followers on Twitch.
But how did he get into the game, and what kick-started his Twitch streaming career?
How TSM Daequan Started Playing and Streaming Fortnite
Daequan grew up playing games like Crash Bandicoot and Mega Man. As he grew older, he got into PC games and MMOs like Gunz: The Duel. Eventually, he told his parents he wanted a $2,700 gaming computer to become a pro streamer. Although he had to buy it himself, it soon paid off for him.
I bought myself a $2700 PC, and this was before Fortnite even came out, I didn’t even know what Fortnite was. I just knew I wanna stream, I don’t know what I’m gonna stream, but I’m buying this PC so I stream.
It wasn’t long till he made his way to Fortnite.
My friend was like “Yo, you guys should try out Fortnite.” We all hopped on Fortnite, we loved it, and then I think about a month into Fortnite that’s when I was like alright, I’m gonna start streaming.
Inadvertently, Daequan found himself in a game with popular streamer Dakotaz. The two added each other and paired up to pick up 27 Squad wins in a row. Dakotaz gave Daequan his big break when he brought him to a high-profile Fortnite tournament.
Dakotaz got me into the Fortnite invitationals where a lot of known streamers and YouTubers were all in a tournament were all fighting each other. I won 5 of those matches and that’s what really got me my kickstart.
TSM Myth Introduced Daequan to Team Solo Mid
TSM Myth, another huge Fortnite player and streamer, also helped Daequan along the way. Daequan revealed that it was Myth who introduced him to the team.
The first time that I heard about TSM in Fortnite was Myth. Myth was like “Yo, a really big team hit me up and I told them to hit you up too.” … That’s when I see Leena and I’m just like “Oh, TSM!” Then I see that they have like a million Twitter followers and I was like “That’s crazy!” I got really excited.
Although his parents were reluctant to let him move, Daequan soon moved out to California to the TSM team house. He now plays Fortnite professionally and creates content along with TSM Myth and TSM Hamlinz.
I never thought in my wildest dreams that anything like this would happen. TSM played a big part in that, and I’m extremely grateful to them too.
