Today’s Super Smash Bros Ultimate Direct revealed a ton of news regarding new stages, music, and game modes. Most importantly, we got to see five new Super Smash Bros Ultimate Characters!

Simon Belmont and King K. Rool join the battle as brand new fighters. Meanwhile, Richter Belmont, Chrom, and Dark Samus will join as Echo Fighters of Lucina, Simon, and Samus respectively.

New Smash Bros Ultimate Characters – Simon Belmont

CastleVania’s signature hero Simon Belmont has been a long-awaited addition to the Smash Bros roster, originally expected to join in Smash 4.

Sakurai explained in the announcement that Belmont will bring his signature whip, along with a bunch of other recognizable moves:

His signature item is, of course, his Holy Whip, the far-flinging Vampire Killer. It leaves you open to attack and it’s a bit slow, but I think its average reach during normal attacks is longer than any other fighter’s. He can move the whip freely. His special attacks are very recognizable. The Axe. Cross. Holy Water. And Uppercut. While they may seem simple, they are very powerful.

Richter Belmont, Dracula & CastleVania Music in Smash 5

Richter Belmont will also join as an Echo Fighter- a character with all the same moves as Simon. Sakurai explained he was included as many of Simon’s moves are based on Richter’s from CastleVania: Rondo of Blood.

In addition to the new fighters, Dracula’s Castle will appear as a new stage, featuring bosses from the CastleVania series and candlesticks that drop items, just like in the CastleVania games.

Dracula will also appear on the stage, and Alucard features as an assist trophy, using his attacks from CastleVania: Symphony of the Night.

All of this plus 34 music tracks from the CastleVania series, including a remix of the classic ‘Vampire Killer’!

New Smash Bros Ultimate Characters – King K. Rool

Another long-awaited character was announced at the end of the video. Donkey Kong’s nemesis King K. Rool comes aboard to the Smash Bros Ultimate Roster!

Not much was explained, but it looks like the villain from Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong 64 will be even bigger than characters like King Dedede.

King K. Rool’s theme song will also be appearing, along with a range of other tracks from the Donkey Kong series.

These announcements are sure to shake up the Smash Bros Ultimate Tier List!
