With over 70 characters in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, many players have had a hard time ranking who’s the best. Many pro players have made their own Smash Ultimate Tier Lists based on their observations of each fighter. However, a Reddit user named BongoBeatSSB has now made a Super Smash Bros Ultimate Tier List based on Top 8 placings in big tournaments. Here’s how it looks.

The new Smash Ultimate Tier List comes from BongoBeatSSB. It uses data compiled from Top 8 placings at various different Smash Bros Ultimate tournaments to determine who are the best Smash Bros Ultimate characters in competition.

300+: Ike
200-299: Pichu, Fox, Lucina
100-199: Wario, Wolf, Peach, Palutena, Olimar

Best and Worst Smash Bros Ultimate Characters
The Smash Bros Ultimate Tier List based on Top 8 placings largely confirms what many believe to be the best Super Smash Bros Ultimate Characters.
Ike, Pichu, Fox, Lucina, Peach, Palutena, and Olimar are all highly rated by pros. Wario is also surprisingly high, showing how much potential the character has.
It should be noted this methodology doesn’t necessarily reflect the abilities of all characters. Marth has zero Top 8 placings, yet he plays similarly to Lucina. Ike also tops the list largely thanks to MkLeo’s multiple wins with the character.
Nonetheless, it shows the strong balance in Smash Bros Ultimate characters. The recent Genesis 6 results showed that many characters are competitively viable in Smash Bros Ultimate. It’ll be interesting to see how the tier lists pan out throughout 2019.
