The Super Smash Bros Ultimate DLC lineup is complete. Smash Bros creator Masahiro Sakurai announced the news in a Tweet today.
However, the characters players will get are still unknown. The previous Smash Ultimate Nintendo Direct told us that Piranha Plant will be the first DLC character. Five more will come, along with new stages and music, in 5 packs priced at $6 each or $25 for all five.
Sakurai also told fans that the lineup is announced by Nintendo. This suggests that many fan favorites may not have made the cut, despite various fan campaigns and votes across Twitter and Reddit.
So who will the new Smash Bros Ultimate DLC fighters be? We don’t know a lot yet, but there have been some interesting leaks and rumors.
Smash Bros Ultimate DLC Leaks and Rumors
While many leaks and rumors fall short, two leakers have shown themselves to be fairly credible- Vergeben and Senjougahara__Hitagi. Vergeben correctly told GameFAQs and Reddit users that Incineroar, Ken, and Piranha Plant would be in the latest Smash Bros Direct.
The most prominent leak coming from both is Minecraft Steve in Smash Bros Ultimate. This will most likely come along with a new Minecraft stage.

Vergeben also claims there will be a Square Enix character in Smash Bros Ultimate. However, who it will be is a well-kept secret by the company. Fans believe this could be Sora, Geno or even Slime from Dragon Quest.
Senjougahara__Hitagi also leaked that Nintendo was in talks with Cygames to include Katalina from Granblue Fantasy in Smash Bros Ultimate. Granblue Fantasy is a huge mobile game in Japan, and Nintendo owns a 5% stake in Cygames. Apparently, talks fell through, although they may release a Mii Fighter costume for Granblue Fantasy.

Five more DLC packs will come after. According to Sakurai, they’ll all be released before February 2019. This suggests we’ll get one approximately every 2 to 3 months.
