Shroud’s opinions of SCUM are pretty interesting, to say the least.
Other than the Pokemon Always on marathon and Fortnite, SCUM has been one of the biggest successes on Twitch. Peaking at more than 200,000 concurrent viewers, even Shroud and Dr Disrespect are playing it.
The game, which was only released earlier this week, is still in early access – like seemingly every game. Devolver Digital’s survival game peaked on the top ten charts on Steam, showing just how popular it has been. It has also sold a whopping 250,000 copies in less than 24 hours since launch; with more than 53,000 concurrent players on Steam at any one time.
Despite the games success and the fact that Shroud has been streaming it all week, he had some strong opinions about it. While he didn’t pull in his views from something like PUBG, he did have more than 40,000 concurrent viewers which is very impressive.
Speaking on his stream, he compared the game to the state of DayZ more than two years ago.
Shroud on Scum
Games like this aren’t easy to make. Like, if DayZ struggled to pull it off, do you think this company will be able to pull it off? It’s going to take them a couple years. Right now, all this is, is what DayZ was two years ago.”
Now, DayZ is at a state where you get 300 frames [per second] and go ‘oh’, and the gunplay is really good like DayZ is in a really good state finally. But all [SCUM] is, is kind of like a restart of DayZ.”
Interestingly, the game has been in development for more than two years but is still very much in Early Access. Hopefully, Gamepires will continue working on Scum to make it much more stable and move it quickly out of the Early Access purgatory.
