More Super Smash Bros Ultimate characters are yet to be revealed in the next few months. There have been many fan campaigns for characters like Banjo Kazooie, Waluigi, and Isaac. But there are two characters the creator himself has expressed interest in- Sakurai wanted Dixie Kong and Geno in Smash Bros ever since Brawl!
Dixie Kong In Smash Bros Ultimate?
Now King K Rool has made it into Smash Bros Ultimate, many fans wonder if Dixie Kong could also join the roster- perhaps as an Echo Fighter for Diddy Kong.
Sakurai shouldn’t be too opposed to it. In fact, he previously wanted her in Smash Bros Brawl! In a Famitsu interview from 2008, Sakurai said:
Well, Diddy Kong I was planning to pair with Dixie Kong. I planned to replace them instantly with every touch. There were various difficult parts and I cut it quickly.
Dixie Kong made her first appearance in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest on the SNES. Since then, she’s also appeared in Donkey Kong 64 and many other DK games.
The Echo Fighter system gives Sakurai the perfect opportunity to finally add Dixie Kong to Smash Bros Ultimate.
Geno In Smash Bros Ultimate?
Super Mario RPG was released in 1996 on the SNES and never got a remake. Despite this, many fans still eagerly want to see Mario’s RPG ally Geno in Smash Bros Ultimate.
Geno is another character Sakurai wanted in the past. In a Japanese interview translated on EventHubs, Sakurai admitted:
Geno was actually a character I wanted to include as a fighter. He has a gun for an arm and just seems like he’d fit absolutely perfectly into Smash.
I was hoping I’d be able to put him in as far back as Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but unfortunately, that never ended up materializing.
He only got a Mii Fighter costume in Smash 4, but Geno is one of the most likely new characters for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
