YouTuber SmashCentralOfficial released a new Super Smash Bros Ultimate Tier List based on results. While pro players have made their own Smash Bros Ultimate Tier Lists, this one uses data from tournaments to determine the top characters. This gives an interesting objective look at which characters are the best in practice and not just in theory.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate Tier List – January 2019
The tier list was made by SmashCentralOfficial using tournament data from SmashBoards.com. SmashCentral also compiled the data in a spreadsheet.
The tier list gives each character points for how well they perform in tournaments. This is how the tier list pans out.
23k+ – Snake, Daisy, Peach
22k-15k – Ness, Palutena, Wolf, Inkling, Fox, Olimar, Donkey Kong, Sonic
15k-10k – Pokemon Trainer, Pichu, Chrom, R.O.B., Richter Belmont, Simon Belmont, Roy, Ike, Mega Man, Young Link, Lucina, Zero Suit Samus, Yoshi
10k-5k – Pit, Dark Pit, Cloud, Ridley, Link, Greninja, Captain Falcon, Incineroar, Mario, Wario, Zelda, Mr. Game and Watch, Meta Knight, King Dedede
5k-3k – Robin, Bayonetta, King K Rool, Shulk, Mii Swordfighter, Bowser, Ken, Ryu, Duck Hunt Duo, Pikachu, Sheik, Isabelle, Diddy Kong, Samus, Dark Samus, Marth
Under 3k – Pac-Man, Villager, Ganondorf, Mewtwo, Dr. Mario, Toon Link, Falco, Kirby, Lucario, Lucas, Jigglypuff, Mii Gunner, Wii Fit Trainer, Corrin, Luigi, Bowser Jr., Rosalina & Luma, Little Mac, Mii Brawler, Ice Climbers
Snake, Daisy, and Peach are the top performing characters right now. SmashCentral also made a list based on Number of Appearances to account for overutilized and underutilized characters.

How the Smash Bros Ultimate Tier Lists Compare
It’s interesting to see how the results-based tier list compares to Smash Bros Ultimate Tier Lists made by pro players.
This is my tier list, i promised to make one at 125 subs so here it is.

Most players agree that Daisy and Peach are the best characters right now. Inkling, Olimar, and Lucina also get consistent top tier ratings.
The results-based tier list shows some potentially underrated characters, such as Ness, Fox, and Snake.
It may also be that characters at the top of pro tier lists are chosen more by tournament players. As time goes on, more data will likely reveal who the true top tier characters of Smash Bros Ultimate are.
