Niantic, the company behind Pokemon GO, has confirmed that we’ll see Pokemon GO PVP Battles in 2018!

So far, you’ve been able to catch and collect Pokemon, and trading in Pokemon GO was introduced just recently. By the end of 2018, you’ll also be able to battle other players with your team of Pokemon.

Trading and player vs player battles have been demanded by fans ever since the game’s launch. It seems that Niantic are going out of their way to really improve the game for 2018.

Pokemon GO PVP Battle With Friends

Pokemon GO PVP was confirmed earlier this week in an interview with Niantic EMEA Head of Marketing Anne Beuttenmüller on Polish website

Her comments on Pokemon GO roughly translate to:

Now we are working on the PvP mode, which will soon appear. In addition, we’re still working on improving the feature that has just made its debut – it’s all about friends, such as the ability to exchange Pokemon in the game.

After the trading feature is improved, player vs player battles will be the company’s next priority. Get trading and training so you can beat up your friends!

More New Features in Pokemon GO 2018

In addition to PVP battling, more social features will also be added to Pokemon GO. For instance, you will be able to add notes to your friends to identify them. Anne Beuttenmüller explained:

We’ve just introduced an improvement so you can add a note to your friend. The point is that you can have many people on your friends list and do not remember who is who. So you can add a comment to that person. You can also segregate your friends list. We are constantly improving the elements that we have available in the game and the next thing that we want to add at the end of this year is the PvP mode.

She also confirmed that new Pokemon will also be making their way to the game.

This day will certainly come, but I can not say what exactly will be added, but yes – we will still add new Pokemon to the game.

Although player numbers have dropped since 2016, the introduction of trading, battling, and more new Pokemon mean this could once again be one of the best upcoming esports games of 2018.
