Nintendo Switch Online will be launched on September 18! The latest September Nintendo Direct announced the new paid service which will feature online play in addition to DLC, cloud data, and a range of NES games.

Here’s what was revealed on Nintendo Direct about Nintendo Switch Online.

Nintendo Switch Online Price and Release Date

Switch players who are eager to try out the new online service won’t have long to wait- Nintendo Switch Online launches next Tuesday!

As for the price, you’ll have three options depending on how long you plan to use the new online features.

Nintendo Switch Online Membership Costs – from Nintendo Direct September

Here are the current prices in USD, GBP, and EUR.

1 month (30 days) – $3.99 / £3.49 /€3.99

3 months (90 days) – $7.99 / £6.99 / €7.99

12 months (365 days) – $19.99 / £17.99 / €19.99

Family Membership (up to 8 accounts, 365 days) – $34.99 / £31.49 / €34.99

A yearly membership will give you the best per-month cost, but some might want a shorter membership or a family membership for multiple accounts.

Online Play for Nintendo Switch Games

Of course, Switch Online will feature high quality online play with players anywhere in the world.

Online modes are included in all kinds of popular games including Splatoon 2, Mario Kart, ARMs, and Smash Bros Ultimate.

Current Switch players will be able to play online for free until Switch Online launches next Tuesday.

Nintendo Switch Online NES Games

The membership also gives you access to a huge library of classic Nintendo Entertainment System games.

Not only can you play these yourself, you can also play with a friend using a joy-con each or play online. Nintendo is also releasing classic NES controllers for the Nintendo Switch.

The online service will also automatically backup all of your save data to cloud storage. Even if your console breaks, you’ll be able to access your data from another console.

Nintendo Switch Online Smartphone App

Switch Online will also feature a connectable smartphone app. The app can be used to voice chat with friends. It also connects with certain games, such as Splatoon 2, for special features.
