Fans are gearing up for the upcoming release of Super Smash Bros Ultimate and with a roster of 70 characters (plus Echo Fighters), there’s a lot to be excited about. A survey on Reddit by u/freeziebeatz polled fans on which characters they’re most hyped for, and the most popular Smash Ultimate Fighters might surprise some!
Most Popular Smash Ultimate Fighters
The recent Smash Bros fan ballot on Reddit asked users which newcomers, Echo Fighters, and potential DLC characters they’re most excited for in Smash Ultimate.
It may come as a surprise for some, but Piranha Plant ran away with first place. Despite not being a highly requested character, the surprise reveal of Piranha Plant has tons of fans hyped. He got 22.1% of the fan vote.
King K Rool is the next most popular new Smash Ultimate Fighter with 18.3% of the vote, while Simon Belmont comes close behind with 17.7%. Inkling, Incineroar, Ridley, and Isabelle follow.
Most Popular Smash Bros Ultimate Echo Fighters
As for the Echo Fighters poll, it seems 28.5% of players are most excited for Richter Belmont. This makes perfect sense- Richter is the only Echo Fighter of a newcomer.
Dark Samus, Ken Masters, Chrom, and Daisy follow in that order. All of these are Echo Fighters of existing Smash Bros characters. However, with many adjustments to old Smash Bros 4 characters, some of these will feel brand new.
Most Popular Returning Smash Bros Ultimate Characters
Super Smash Bros Ultimate will also feature the return of many old fighters. Many characters from games like Super Smash Bros Brawl and Melee were skipped over in Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS. Smash Ultimate features a roster with every previous Smash Bros fighter ever.
Fans are most hyped for the return of Solid Snake. He picked up 26.6% of the vote, while Wolf is second with 21%. Young Link, Ice Climbers, Pichu, Ivysaur, and Squirtle follow.
Most Wanted Smash Bros Ultimate DLC Fighters
The ballot also asked fans who they most want to see in the upcoming Smash Bros Ultimate DLC Packs.
Tons of characters made the list, from popular picks such as Banjo Kazooie to characters such as Solaire from Dark Souls.
