It’s no surprise to see the top two teams in the world progress 3-0, although there were some surprising results. Renegades were one of the first teams to qualify 3-1. Despite their high expectations, FaZe Clan just pulled through with a 3-2 result in the end.
IEM Katowice 2019 Champions Stage Matchups
IEM have also revealed the first matchups for each team at the Champions Stage. Here is how the tournament bracket looks.
Natus Vincere vs FaZe Clan
Team Liquid vs ENCE Esports
MIBR vs Renegades
Astralis vs Ninjas in Pyjamas
The seeding is based on how the teams ranked at the previous stage. This means that 3-0 teams Astralis and Liquid will face off against teams that went 3-2 – NiP and ENCE.
This still leaves for some interesting match-ups. Natus Vincere and FaZe Clan are two of the top-rated teams at the tournaments. A Best of 3 series between these two could turn out to be a barnburner, especially with so much on the line.
Renegades have also had an incredible run throughout the Major. They went 3-0 in the Challengers Stage and 3-1 in the Legends Stage. They now face off against MIBR- a winnable matchup which could go their way.
We’ll see how things pan out at the Champions Stage begins on February 28th.
