Luigi has been a part of the Super Smash Bros roster ever since the original game, and he’s back again in Ultimate. However, you will need to spend a little time on unlocking Luigi. Here’s a guide on how to unlock Luigi in Smash Bros Ultimate.
Fastest Way To Unlock Luigi In Smash Bros Ultimate
The fastest way to unlock Luigi in Smash Bros Ultimate is via Classic Mode. If you start off as Mario, you can unlock Luigi within 5 Classic Mode runs. This should take around 50 minutes or less.
You can also unlock Luigi via Smash Mode or World of Light, but these methods will take longer.
How To Unlock Luigi In Classic Mode
Unlocking Luigi via Classic Mode is the fastest method. You’ll need to play Classic Mode 5 times, starting as Mario. As the Smash Ultimate character unlock order shows, Luigi is the 6th character in Mario’s unlock chain.
Mario > Sonic > Bayonetta > Little Mac > Ike > Luigi > Roy > Dr Mario > Olimar > Bowser
This means you can use Mario to unlock Sonic, Sonic to unlock Bayonetta and so on. You can also clear Classic Mode 5 times as Mario to unlock Luigi. This should take around 50 minutes, although you may be able to make it faster by playing on a lower difficulty setting.
How To Unlock Luigi In Smash Mode
You can also use Smash Mode battles to unlock all of the characters in the Smash Ultimate roster. Usually, the game allows you to unlock a new character after every 10 minutes of battling. However, there is a trick to make this faster.
However, Luigi is the 33rd character you unlock with this method. As such, it’ll take a while if you choose to unlock him via Smash Mode.
How To Unlock Luigi In World of Light
You can also unlock Luigi in World of Light, the Smash Bros Ultimate Adventure Mode.
You’ll find Luigi in the Mysterious Dimension area of the World of Dark. You won’t reach this point until many hours into the game, making it the slowest way to unlock Luigi.
