Bethesda has announced that the Fallout 76 BETA starts 23 October for Xbox One users. PS4 and PC users will have to wait an extra week, with the beta starting on 30 October. This allows users to test the game a few weeks earlier than its release date of 14 November.

The beta app will be titled B.E.T.A. for Break it Early Test Application. Bethesda has encouraged users to try whatever they can to break the game so they can find and fix as many bugs as possible. So what exactly will the beta app involve?

Fallout 76 BETA Full Game Download Size

Unfortunately, beta servers won’t be running 24/7. Bethesda has revealed they’ll be up for a few hours a day, allowing them to stress test their servers by having a lot of people using the game at the same time.

Like previous Fallout games, you’ll be a lone wanderer in the wasteland of a new setting- West Virginia. You can see what else to expect from Fallout 76 here, and an E3 presentation showed off some gameplay footage.

The good news is that the B.E.T.A. will include the full game! The test application will act as early access, allowing people to explore the brand new wasteland at their leisure. The Bethesda FAQ also confirms that your game progress will carry over to the official game.

The B.E.T.A. is the full game. Our current plan is for your progress to carry over once Fallout 76 officially launches on November 14. Stay tuned for more information.

You’ll need some space in your system, though. The beta download size is 45GB, and it’s not available for pre-load.

How To Play Fallout 76 BETA

The beta download will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC to those who pre-ordered the game. Those who pre-ordered a digital copy get automatic access, while those who ordered a physical copy will get a code to use.

Xbox One users will be available to download the Fallout B.E.T.A. from 23 October in the Xbox Store. You’ll also need an Xbox Live Gold membership.

PS4 users can download it from the PlayStation Store from 30 October. You’ll need PlayStation Plus membership.

PC players will need to create an account at and download the Bethesda Launcher. Fallout 76 will be available exclusively through here for PC users.

Of course, you’ll also be able to get the full game starting 14 November. Enjoy the wasteland!
