Fortnite’s player count in August was amazing.

While they faced competition from the likes of Black Ops 4 and Battlefield V’s beta, Fortnite is still dominating. We also found out yesterday that Fortnite was second on YouTube, with Minecraft number one despite being eight years old. Though you might think this is a poor time for Fortnite, you would be dead wrong.

Posting on the Epic website in the announcement for the Fall Skirmish event, the team revealed the player count for August. Incredibly, the month was the biggest ever for the game, potentially thanks to the addition of new weapons and changes.

Fortnite biggest game in the world?

On the website post, Epic said: “For example, August was Fortnite’s biggest month yet, with 78.3 million of you showing up to play.”

In August, Fortnite’s rivals PUBG managed to only get an average of 558,000 players with a peak of 1,182,164. With Season 6 right around the corner, we can just imagine that Fortnite will continue to increase in numbers. Especially with the announcement on the inclusive tournament that will allow everyone to play in competitions throughout the Fall Skirmish.

With the emerging markets for Fortnite in China and the launch of the game for Android users, Fortnite will likely continue going from strength to strength for the rest of 2018.
