EVO 2019 Games Lineup – Full List of Games
Nine main games will feature at EVO 2019. The lineup was revealed in a live broadcast on the EVO Twitch channel.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate will likely be the biggest game at this year’s tournament. The new installment in the Smash Bros franchise has brought both Smash 4 and Melee players together. Expect many huge names and battles between new and existing characters.
Tekken 7 is back. The classic Bandai Namco fighting game always creates some fantastic esports storylines. The Tekken World Tour 2018 saw the first Panda champion in Tekken history. More recently, Pakistani Arslan Ash came out of nowhere to win Tekken 7 at EVO Japan 2019. EVO 2019 is sure to be a huge event for the game.
Street Fighter V will also return. Last year, Problem-X became the first UK champion at EVO 2018. We’ll see if he can retain the throne this year.
Soul Calibur VI is one of the newer games in the lineup. It was recently battle-tested at EVO Japan 2019, with French player Keev coming out victorious using Nightmare.
UNIST (Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late[st]) is perhaps the biggest surprise on the list. The game has been around since 2014 and has a dedicated niche following who love it for its deep technical gameplay.
Mortal Kombat 11 is one of the biggest fighting games to come out this year. The game will release on 23 April 2019 and features a range of new and fan favorite characters, such as Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Johnny Cage.
Samurai Shodown is another new game. The latest game in the installment won’t come out until Summer 2019, giving players a short amount of time to practice before EVO 2019.
DragonBall Fighter Z is also back. As one of the biggest fighting esports of the past year, it should make for a great event at EVO.
BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle rounds out the lineup, beating out many other games including Smash Bros Melee.
EVO Says Goodbye to Smash Bros Melee
One of the biggest surprises of the EVO 2019 lineup announcement is the absence of Super Smash Bros Melee.
Despite the success of Smash Ultimate, Melee still has a huge and loyal scene with many tournaments. However, it seems that EVO has decided to distance themselves from the game.
They broke the news of Melee’s absence with a send-off video.
