For the past month, a notorious CS:GO smoke bug has been making waves for allowing players to see enemies in the radar before the smoke fades. Not only did this affect matchmaking, but was also used by various pro players.

A recent CS:GO update patched the smoke bug. Now, the latest CS:GO Update also fixes an issue where smokes dissipate molotovs too early. Here’s more on the recent CS:GO smoke bug fixes.

CS:GO Smoke Bug – What Is It?

The CS:GO smoke bug has been in the game for a while. However, recent Tweets by pro players brought it to the limelight. This started when TACO called out other players for taking advantage of the smoke radar bug.

Other pro CS players also brought up clips of the bug being utilized.

This brought the bug to Valve’s attention. An update was rolled out shortly before the IEM Katowice 2019 Major began in the interest of fair play.

CS:GO Update – Smoke Molotov Bug Fix

While the earlier update fixed the smoke radar bug, it wasn’t without its problems. Players had issues with molotovs extinguishing under dissipating smokes.

A new update was brought out to address this issue, along with some other minor bugs. Here are the latest Patch Notes:

– Smokes that visibly fade off the ground now allow fire to spread under them without getting extinguished.
– Fixed a rare occurrence of the C4 viewmodel sometimes being wrapped in last year’s holiday wrapping paper.
– Added support for displaying correct picks for Katowice 2019 Major Championship after the Challengers Stage is finished.

The CS:GO smoke bug fixes will also be used in the Major, allowing teams to play without any of these issues.

With rumors of teams like Astralis often relying on the smoke radar bug, we’ll see how the latest fixes affect the outcome of the tournament.
